On Friday, the EU Commission launched the European Solar Photovoltaic Industry Alliance with partners from industry and research. The goal is to mitigate supply risk by diversifying supply chains and increasing domestic production capacity. To this end, among other things, approval procedures for new production sites or for securing the necessary raw materials and components are to be simplified. Increased domestic production of solar modules is not only intended to contribute to Europe’s climate protection targets, but also to reduce dependence on Russian energy supplies under the REPowerEU plan.
