EU and Chile Conclude Agreement – Access to Raw Materials Is Facilitated

by | 9. Dec 2022 - 15:09 | Politics

Chile and the European Union on Friday agreed on an expanded framework agreement aimed at intensifying trade relations. It will also strengthen cooperation on common global challenges such as the fight against climate change and environmental protection, the European Commission said. For the EU, Latin America’s fifth-largest economy offers an opportunity to diversify its supply of raw materials. Chile is the most important exporter of copper, which is urgently needed for the energy transition, and a major producer of the battery metal lithium, which also plays a central role in the energy transition.
