Liquified Gallium

A Piece of Art Made of Gallium – On Show From October 30 in Wolfsburg (Germany)

SHARE

Starting tomorrow (Oct. 30), the Kunstmuseum Wolfsburg is showing the exhibition “Menschenbilder”. Works by twelve artists from ten countries focus on interpersonal dialogue. Among others, the work Simplification by the artist Christian Keinstar can be seen.

The metallic self-portrait is made of gallium and is slowly melted over and over again. In the case of the technology metal, just 30 degrees are necessary for this. The liquefied material is collected in a mold, where it resumes head shape; ready for the next cycle.

More information on Simplification can be found here.
