U.S. President Joe Biden presented the draft for the 2024 budget on Thursday. Among other things, it provides for a significant increase in the budget for the United States Geological Survey (USGS). The agency’s mission is to explore and map the country’s natural resources. With the budget increase of $288 million to $1.79 billion, the USGS says it can invest in computer-aided localization of critical raw materials, as well as in young scientists. Currently, the USGS employs more than 10,000 people at more than 400 sites.
