Stockpiling, Recycling, Targets: G7 Plans Critical Minerals Push
The G7 plans to work more closely together on critical minerals. At their meeting in Évian-les-Bains, France, the leaders agreed on joint measures to reduce import dependencies. These include increased stockpiling, more recycling, and new early warning systems. For rare earths and permanent magnets, the group also plans to cap dependence on any single supplier outside the G7 and its partner countries by 2030. Rare Earth Supply Chains: Ucore and Sumitomo Enter Strategic Partnership
Another partnership aimed at diversifying rare earth supply chains: Canadian rare earth processor Ucore Rare Metals and Japanese conglomerate Sumitomo Corporation have agreed to collaborate. The arrangement covers both the supply of feedstock for Ucore’s planned rare earth refinery in the United States and the marketing and distribution of the separated rare earth products that will be produced there in the future.
